Somali Pirates Strike Again
Somali pirates appear to have struck gold again with reports indicating that they were paid $2.6 million to release a hijacked Greek vessel. Several ships are still being held and this menace shows no sign of abating. This is a clear case for international cooperation and coordination as I've noted in a research paper that can be downloaded here. States have to commit the resources to capture and prosecute pirates, and address the underlying problem of Somalia as a failed state if the Horn of Africa has to be safe again.
